Trauma

Trauma

“Trauma constantly confronts us with our fragility and with man’s inhumanity to man but also with our extraordinary resilience.”

Bessel Van Der Kolk

Experiencing traumatic events can have devastating emotional effects and a lasting impact on our nervous system. We become traumatized when our ability to respond to a threat is in some way overwhelmed.

Examples of traumatic experiences can include:

  • Sexual assault

  • Emotional abuse

  • Growing up in violent environments

  • Wars

  • Domestic Violence

  • Loss of a loved one

  • Car Accidents

  • Witnessing traumatic events
